President-elect Donald Trump has shared his plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. He revealed this during a meeting with Republican governors at his Mar-a-Lago estate, saying, “Well, he wants to meet, and we’re setting it up.”
This meeting is part of Trump’s big promise during his campaign to help end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Trump had claimed that he could stop the conflict within 24 hours of becoming president.
Trump has spoken with many world leaders since he won the election, but he said he prefers to meet with Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping after he becomes president on January 20th.
He explained, “President Xi – we’ve had a lot of communication – and we have a lot of meetings set up with a lot of people. Some have come, but I’d rather wait till after the 20th.”
Trump seems to believe that meeting these leaders after Inauguration Day will give his discussions more importance and power.
