Adanna was a mystery. Every day, she came to the market to sell the freshest fruits and vegetables, ones no one else could seem to grow. Her goods sold out quickly, and the villagers always complimented her, saying, “Adanna, your fruits are as sweet as your heart!” Yet, when the sun began to set, she would leave the market quietly, disappearing before anyone could ask her where she went.

Her beauty attracted many admirers. The men in the village would often try their luck, asking, "Adanna, will you marry me?" But she would always smile politely and say, "Thank you, but I’m not ready for that." This only deepened the curiosity about her. Where did she live? Why did she keep to herself? The villagers whispered about her in secret, wondering what she was hiding.

One sunny afternoon, a tall and handsome stranger named Ema came to Omunu. He had heard about the famous market and wanted to buy fresh fruits. As he wandered through the market, his eyes fell on Adanna. She was standing under a tree, her basket full of ripe, colorful fruits. Ema’s heart skipped a beat. "She is the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen," he thought.

Ema walked up to her and said, “Hello, I’m Ema. What’s your name?”

Adanna smiled warmly, “I’m Adanna. How can I help you today?”

They talked for a while, exchanging stories about the village and the weather. Ema found himself enchanted by her calm and soothing voice. From that day on, Ema returned to the market every morning, just to see Adanna. Their conversations grew longer, and a friendship blossomed.

But even as they grew closer, Adanna remained elusive. Ema, like everyone else, had no idea where she went after the market closed. Still, Ema couldn’t stop thinking about her. He had fallen deeply in love and was determined to win her heart.

One evening, as the market was closing, Ema saw Adanna packing up her goods. The sky was turning orange, and the air was still. As he approached her, he noticed something strange. For the first time, Adanna seemed distracted. She hurriedly packed her things, her movements quick and nervous.

“Adanna, let me walk you home,” Ema offered, sensing something was different.

Adanna froze for a moment, her eyes darkening. She turned to Ema and gave him a small, sad smile. “I can’t let you do that,” she whispered. Before Ema could say anything, she quickly disappeared into the shadows.

Curiosity got the better of Ema. He decided to follow her from a distance, making sure to stay hidden. He had to know where Adanna went every night. As he followed her deep into the forest, something unimaginable happened—Adanna, the gentle, kind girl everyone adored, began to change. Her delicate body transformed, her skin glistening under the moonlight. Ema’s eyes widened in disbelief as he watched her turn into a massive snake, slithering silently through the trees.
