The mother said she was in the bathroom when she heard a strange noise from the room. She ran back quickly, but it was too late. The python had already swallowed her baby. The family and the entire community are heartbroken and in shock.
The people of Otitiri are now trying to prevent something like this from happening again. Local leaders are telling everyone to be more careful and to protect their homes from wild animals.
Experts say living close to forests can bring dangerous animals, like snakes, near people’s homes. Families are being advised to close any gaps or holes in their houses to stop snakes from getting inside. Keeping the area around the house clean is also important.
