Police Officers Arrested for Killing Kwara Polytechnic Student: See What Happened

Police officers have been arrested for allegedly killing a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin. This incident occurred during a protest last week when students demonstrated against a sudden rise in fuel prices.

The victim, Qoyum Ishola, was a 21-year-old student studying Electrical/Electronics Engineering. He was in his second year at Kwara Polytechnic. Reports say Qoyum was killed in the Fate area of Ilorin while students protested the fuel price hike. The fuel price had increased from N568 to N878, which sparked outrage among the students and the public.

The protest started after the government raised fuel prices, causing serious hardship. Many students feared they wouldn't be able to continue their education because of the rising costs of transport and living.

Students took to the streets to peacefully express their frustration. Unfortunately, tensions grew, and police were called in to control the protest. It was during this unrest that Qoyum lost his life.

After the incident, there was public outcry. The police officers believed to be involved in Qoyum’s death have been arrested. The details of how exactly Qoyum died are not yet clear, but eyewitnesses claim he was shot during the chaos.

The arrest of the officers has provided some relief to the public, but there are still loud demands for justice. Many students have taken to social media, using hashtags like #JusticeForQoyum, to pressure authorities to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.

The death of Qoyum Ishola has caused anger and sadness among students, parents, and civil rights groups. Social media platforms have been flooded with calls for justice, with many criticizing the police for using excessive force during the protest.

The Kwara Polytechnic Student Union Government (SUG) expressed their deep sorrow and promised to continue pushing for justice. “We will not rest until the culprits are brought to book,” the SUG said in a statement.

With the police officers now in custody, the next step is a full investigation into what happened. Authorities have assured the public that they will carry out a thorough and transparent investigation. The family of Qoyum and the community are waiting for justice.

Qoyum Ishola’s death highlights the tension between police and the public, especially during protests in Nigeria. While the arrest of the officers is a positive step, many believe it is just the beginning. True justice will only be served if those responsible are held accountable and measures are taken to prevent this from happening again.

The fight for justice continues. You can support the cause by joining the conversation on social media and raising your voice for a peaceful resolution to protests in the future.

By sharing this post, you help raise awareness about the tragic death of Qoyum Ishola and the ongoing call for justice. Let’s continue the conversation.
