Police in Kaduna State, Nigeria, have found over 300 people, including children, chained in a house in Rigasa community. The house was run by a man who claimed it was a place to learn Islam, but police discovered it was a site of severe abuse.
Victims, some from other African countries, were kept in chains. They reported being tortured, fed poorly, and some were sexually abused. One victim, Bello Hamza, shared that he was tricked into coming to the house. He said, “I was supposed to be studying in South Africa, but now I’m chained here.”
Hamza also explained that young boys were forced into homosexual acts. The police have taken all the victims to safety and are investigating the situation.
Police Commissioner Ali Janga said they acted on a tip-off. "This is not a school or a rehabilitation center. Children are chained and treated badly," he stated. The man in charge denied the accusations but admitted to chaining those who tried to run away.
The police are now investigating the true purpose of the house and have asked parents to come and get their children.
The police are committed to finding out what really happened in the house. If the operators are found guilty, they will be brought to court. The victims are now in police care, and their families are being contacted.
