The famous Nigerian singing duo, P-Square, has split again, just two years after their big reunion. Paul Okoye, one half of the duo, confirmed in an interview with City FM that P-Square is no more. This announcement marks another chapter in the rocky relationship between the twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye.
For over ten years, P-Square was a major force in African music. Their catchy songs and amazing performances won them fans all over the continent and beyond. However, in 2017, the brothers surprised everyone by going their separate ways to start solo careers. Paul, known as Rudeboy, released hits like "Fire Fire" and "Nkenji Keke," while Peter, known as Mr. P, released tracks such as "For My Head" and "Cool It Down."
In 2021, fans were excited when P-Square reunited and performed together at a show in Sierra Leone. The reunion seemed like a new beginning for the brothers, who had previously let their differences pull them apart. But now, Paul has revealed that the reunion didn't last.
In his interview, Paul shared some reasons behind the latest split. He spoke about his frustrations and the issues that led to their decision:
"No, P-Square is no more. I didn’t say anything before, but something happened that made me see things differently. Now, I’m just focused on Rudeboy. There’s a critical element that keeps causing problems."
Paul also mentioned their elder brother, Jude Okoye, as part of the ongoing issues:
"People think our elder brother, Jude, is causing the problems. When we came back, he wasn't involved at all. No manager, no director, nothing. He was on his own."
Paul also gave a warning about the people you let into your life, especially those who weren't there from the start:
"There’s a lot people don’t know. I always tell people, be careful who you bring close, especially people who weren’t there from the beginning. Suddenly, they start saying things like, 'Why are you letting him do all the songs? Why are you making him look like just a dancer?' These thoughts grow and cause problems. I don’t want to go into more details."
With this latest split, the future of P-Square is unclear. Paul Okoye, now focusing on his solo career as Rudeboy, seems ready to move on. The musical journey of Peter and Paul has been full of ups and downs, and only time will tell if they will reunite again.
For now, fans will have to enjoy the individual talents of Rudeboy and Mr. P as they continue their separate paths in the music world.
