The Borno state government has distributed twenty truckloads of rice provided by the federal government to help ease the hardship caused by rising food prices and the cost of basic amenities.

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum oversaw the distribution of these supplies to thirty-five thousand beneficiaries in Monguno town. He was assisted by Senator Muhammad Tahir Monguno and other government officials.

Monguno local government, in northern Borno, hosts internally displaced persons from about four local government areas affected by insurgency. This has led to the continued need for aid distribution in the area.

Each of the thirty-five thousand male beneficiaries received a 25kg bag of rice and a 10kg bag of cowpeas, the latter provided by the state to help them participate in this year's farming season.

Additionally, each of the forty-five thousand female residents received clothing materials and ten thousand naira as part of the state government's financial inclusion policy.

Governor Zulum praised the Tinubu administration for its ongoing support and compassion towards the citizens. He also noted that Borno state received ninety trucks of fertilizer free of charge to distribute to farmers, aiming to boost food production.

While in Monguno, Governor Zulum inspected the ongoing construction of the Dental and Eye Hospital and the School of Nursing. These projects are part of efforts to improve healthcare and address the manpower gap in the health sector.
