The family of the late singer Mohbad, whose real name was Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, has had a second autopsy done to find out how he died.
This autopsy was ordered by Ms. T.A. Shotobi, the Magistrate of the Coroner Court, as part of the ongoing investigation into his death.
A statement from the family’s lawyer, Monisola Odumosu, said the autopsy was carried out on Friday, July 19, and Saturday, July 20. If this autopsy doesn’t reveal the cause of death, the family will do further tests, including toxicology and histology, on the samples they have.

This move follows a court order from June 26, 2024, which allowed Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to get an independent autopsy done by a certified pathologist, with all costs to be covered by him.
The autopsy was watched by a small group, including Mr. Joseph Aloba, the forensic pathologist and his team, and Aloba’s legal representatives. Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi Aloba, was represented by her legal team and a pathologist she appointed.
The Coroner Court is dedicated to a thorough and clear investigation to find out how Mohbad died. They want to give the family closure and ensure the investigation is fair. More updates will come after the second part of the autopsy, if needed.
Mohbad died on September 12, 2023, under unclear circumstances. An earlier investigation in May couldn’t determine the cause of death because the body had decomposed.
