FG Bought a $100 Million (N150 Billion) Presidential Jet While Asking Nigerians to “Exercise Patience” - Sowore Calls Out FG Over Alleged Purchase of Private Jet

In recent news, Nigerian activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has publicly criticized the Federal Government (FG) for allegedly purchasing a luxurious $100 million Presidential jet. This development comes at a time when the government is urging Nigerians to "exercise patience" amidst economic hardships.

According to Sowore, the jet, an A330-200 initially named VP-CAC, has been reconfigured with an additional $50 million and is now registered as 5N-FGA. This staggering expenditure was reportedly not part of the annual budget, raising concerns about the government's priorities.

Sowore's criticism highlights a significant irony: while the government can afford to spend $150 million on a private jet, they are unable to meet other crucial financial obligations. For instance:

1. Minimum Wage: Many Nigerian workers are still waiting for an increase in the minimum wage.
2. Education: Students struggle to secure loans to further their education.
3. Religious Pilgrimages: Despite allocating funds for Hajj pilgrimages, there have been instances where the money ended up being stolen.
