Ze Gladiator explained that he joined the industry during a very tough time. "I was struggling to make ends meet with my job at the market and living with the mother of my children. We were really broke, so I saw this as a chance to earn some quick money."
His first payment was 150,000 CFA francs for seven scenes, which is about 20,000 CFA francs per scene. "They told me no one would know, and the films would be sold abroad. My partner knew I was struggling, but when she asked where the money came from, I lied. Then, my mother called saying she had seen a video of me. That’s when my family found out."
"Once everyone knew, I had nothing to hide. But life became harder. People thought I was making a lot of money, but that wasn’t true. The reality was very different."
He also pointed out the lack of support and safety in the industry. "Dorcel doesn’t invest enough in the actors. It’s a cruel business, especially for us. Even though it seems like a normal job, actors on D0rcel TV Africa don’t have contracts or health checks. If something happens, we are left on our own."
Ze Gladiator highlighted the poor conditions and dangers in the industry. "Many actors, including me, were lucky not to get sick. The conditions are terrible, with some actors having serious health problems like scabies. The big bosses in Africa ignore these issues, while the big house makes sure we have health checks before shoots."
Feeling frustrated, Ze Gladiator said he wishes he could give back all the money he made and have his images removed from the industry. "If I could return all the money and have them delete my images, I would. I’m fed up with the exploitation. If the producer tries to act innocent in front of me, I will confront him. They know why they call me Ze_Gladiator. If you come at me badly, we will settle it."
Ze Gladiator’s story is a stark reminder of the exploitation and lack of support in the adult entertainment industry. It calls for a closer look at the welfare and rights of actors, urging for a safer and more respectful environment.
