In Kano, a sad story happened recently that has touched many hearts. A man went to a foodseller in the Badawa area. He had not eaten in three days and was desperate. He begged the seller for food on credit, hoping for some help.
The foodseller, a kind person, had already given food on credit to many people in the neighborhood. His business was struggling because of it. He sadly told the hungry man that he couldn't help him this time. He was very sorry but too many people had taken food on credit, and his business was failing.
With nowhere else to go, the man sat down beside the shop. He said nothing and waited. As the day went on, other customers came and went, noticing the man but not asking why he was there.
Later that day, another man came into the shop and saw the hungry man sitting by the door. Curious, he asked the foodseller, "Who is the man sitting at your door? Why is he there?"
The foodseller explained, "Oh, he says he hasn't eaten for three days and wants food on credit. But I couldn't give him any because my business is struggling from all the credit I have already given out."
The kind customer then asked, "How much is the food he wants?"
"It's a few cups of garri, rice, and beans. Everything may be 2,000 naira," the foodseller replied.
Without hesitation, the other man said, "Alright, pack everything he wants and more. I will pay for it. Let him go home to his family and eat."
The foodseller, happy and relieved, quickly packed all the food. He went outside to tell the man that his food had been paid for. However, he found the man still sitting there, seemingly asleep. He tapped him gently to wake him up. There was no response. He tapped him again, harder this time. Still, nothing.
The man had died. He died sitting and waiting for help. This tragedy happened just a few days ago in Badawa, Kano. Some people who live in that area know this story well.
